Boulders are one of the defining features of the Estonian landscape – giant stones carried here by the Ice Age. Over time, people arrived here too, shaping a language and a culture. Boulders have stood firmly in place for thousands of years, just as the small Estonian nation has stubbornly endured through the crosswinds of history.
A single boulder – like a single Estonian – or a cluster of them can appear unexpectedly, whether in a forest or along the coast. In the design system, boulders can likewise be used either individually or in groups, creating sudden pauses and rhythms.
